Kia ora and Happy Holidays. We know your inbox must be bursting with season's greetings and marketing hooha, so we'll keep this brief. All of us at Black Sheep want to wish you a very happy and safe holiday season. When you want a mental escape from the frenzy of it all, enjoy some fun holiday reading of our new e-brochure, guaranteed to help you prioritize next year's wishlist!

NEWS FROM THE FIELD

Model Travelers

Have a look at our brand new, fancy-schmancy  e-brochure, hot off the digital press. It's packed full of great images from our  New Zealand tours. Can you spot yourself or any of your fellow Black Sheep travelers? If you haven't traveled with us yet, enjoy imagining yourself on the pages of next year's edition! A huge thank you and chocolate fish to those Black Sheep  guests and guides who provided photos and who star throughout the brochure.

A Day in the Life of a Black Sheep Guide

The film crew from The Hobbit has been in town and our guide Dean Lark (pictured here with fellow guides Emma and Monique) has been busy putting our furry-footed friends into barrels and floating them down the  Pelorus River. While that's not an official Black Sheep activity, past guests may recall dipping their (less hairy) toes into the Pelorus on one of our Experience Tours. We eagerly await the movie's debut and to viewing the results of Dean's work on the river.

THE SHARING SHED

Decadence Downunder
For anyone looking for something a bit different to put on their holiday table, we thought we'd once again include a recipe for New Zealand's favourite dessert, the pavlova. Enjoy!

Rose's Perfect Pavlova

2 egg whites

2 tsp white vinegar

4 Tbsp boiling water

1 1/2 cups caster (superfine) sugar

Make sure mixing bowl is very clean. Beat ingredients on high until stiff. Turn speed to low and add:

2 tsp cornflour

1 tsp baking powder

Beat again until stiff. Spread onto baking paper on a baking tray to about 30 cm (12 inches) or desired plate size and make little peaks. Preheat oven to 140˚ C (280˚ F). Bake for 1 1/4 hours. Leave in the oven to cool down with the door open. Cover with whipped cream and fruit (berries and/or kiwifruit are common).

Feel free to send any items you’d like to share to  newsletter@blacksheeptouring.co.nz.
