To help our Christchurch neighbours rebuild their community, we are donating one dollar to the Red Cross Earthquake Appeal for each 'Like' we get on our website or Facebook page. 2 March 2011 Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan Makes Appeal

Last week, Phil Keoghan, host of The Amazing Race and a former Christchurch son, made a dash back home to do a prime time newscast for CBS news from the site of the earthquake. As part of his report, Keoghan made an appeal for Red Cross donations; however, he also said that a vital thing was to get an accurate message out to Americans. According to Keoghan, the US thinks New Zealand is a flattened disaster zone.

'The worst thing that can happen is that people stop getting on planes and stop visiting here. No matter what fundraising people do, it's a drop in the bucket compared to tourism.'  (Sunday News)

Once again, thank you to all those who have been asking after us at Black Sheep and sending their thoughts and prayers out to those in Christchurch. Kiwis have a huge, generous spirit and have rallied as a country to help those in need. Many overseas have also asked how they can help. Following is a link to the Red Cross Earthquake Appeal: http://www.redcross.org.nz/donate. But as Phil said, another way to help is to continue with your plans to come to New Zealand.

23 February 2011 Offers of Help

Those in our Black Sheep fold have enquired if there is anything they can do to help during what has been described as New Zealand's darkest day. The following link provides information on ways to donate to the Christchurch earthquake appeals being launched: Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. Thank you so much for your well wishes and offers of support. Black Sheep will be doing what it can to help.

22 February 2011 Christchurch Earthquake

The beautiful city of Christchurch was struck by a terrible earthquake this afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those in Christchurch and their families. Rest assured to the friends and families of those travelling with us, there were no Black Sheep in the region at the time of the quake. If you have concerns or wish to contact anyone on tour, please feel free to contact us here in New Zealand at worldinfo@blacksheeptouring.co.nz, phone +64 3 540 3221 or in the US on 1 800 206 8322.

1st December 2010          Summer Downunder

As our northern hemisphere friends pull out their winter duvets and pull on their puffer jackets, we're heating up the BBQ and welcoming the summer. Check out our latest newsletter for the what's new at Black Sheep in 2011.

7th September 2010 Shaken, But Not Stirred

Thank you to all who expressed their concern and well wishes regarding the recent earthquake in Christchurch. While parts of the city and outlying towns received property and roading damage, there thankfully was no loss of life. We were gently nudged awake here in Nelson and the earthquake was felt as far away as Wellington in the North Island; however, areas outside of the Christchurch region were unharmed by the quake. The New Zealand government has been swift to respond and will be assessing the extent of damage in the weeks to come.

While we don't anticipate the shake-up to significantly affect any Black Sheep trips, we will advise our travelers if any itinerary changes are required.

Best wishes,
The Black Sheep Team

10th April 2010                 2010 - 2011 Dates, Rates and New Tours Released

We are very excited to announce our 2010 – 2011 tour schedule and pricing.  This includes the addition of fabulous new tours combining the best features of the South Island which are on our website, available for you to book today.

After every Black Sheep tour our guests give us invaluable feedback.    So we’ve taken this on board and are now able to offer you not one, but three new adventurer tours!

We are proud to incorporate Māori concepts to each of our new tours as they aptly describe the trips and acknowledge the indigenous heritage of New Zealand. The southern adventurer hākari is the full 15 day tour, starting and ending in Christchurch, a veritable feast of South Island adventures. The southern adventurer kai iti is the smaller version, a 9 day tour, starting in Christchurch and ending in Queenstown. The other half, the 8 day southern adventurer kinaki tour, starts in Queenstown and ends in Christchurch.

Compared to our experience tours, the adventurer tours have shorter itineraries and include the use of comfortable, mid-range accommodation and self-selected dining. Days are filled with exciting shared adventures; evenings are left free to explore, making these the perfect trips for the young and young-at-heart.

Once again, we specialize in guided small-group travel and our tours are limited to 11 guests, so early booking is always recommended.  Check out our 2010 – 2011 dates and rates and start planning your Black Sheep trip of a lifetime.

Cheers,

David

28th August 2009 For Clarification

In recent news, a river rafting company based in Queenstown called Black Sheep Adventures Ltd. was fined following the death last year of an English tourist. The company, formed in 2006 and trading as Mad Dog River Boarding, is in no way related to Black Sheep Touring Co. Ltd., incorporated in 1994.

Our sincere condolences go out to all those who were affected by this tragic event.

Kind regards,
David & Kim
